ZIMMERMANNOVÁ, Anežka
The thesis deals with the life and thoughts of Helen Parkhurst. It focuses on her pedagogical career and work on the Dalton Plan. It further explains what the Dalton Plan is, what principles it is based on and how it is implemented in practise. Beside that, it describes the period of time in which Parkhurst lived and what approach to education was taken in those days. Also, the principles of the Dalton Plan are compared with thoughts of the reform education and alternative schools. The thesis follows the development of the Dalton Plan during the 20th century to the present days. It focuses on the possibilities of using it in our educational system where it could be particularly useful in fostering information literacy.
